“The durability of stainless steel, bronze, aluminum and copper match the sources of my designs: geometries of ships’ hulls and seashells, whirlwinds and electrons’ orbits, rocket trajectories and kelp swaying in ocean currents. These have all inspired and catalyzed my artwork. I can see where art could be placed everywhere: embedded in a plaza, nested into a garden niche, or raised up on a traffic roundabout, visually connecting all corners of the surroundings,” said artist Ulrich Pakker.

Three Rising is fabricated in heavy gauge stainless steel and brushed stainless steel tubing. Three Rising’s inspiration echoes in nature through snowy hills and ski jumps, a crescent moon, volcanic peaks and lava flowing as well as an aerial view of the Deschutes River flowing through Bend and the Three Sisters mountains.

The Three Sisters mountains in Oregon are a trio of prominent, glacially-carved stratovolcanoes (North, Middle, and South Sister) in the Cascade Range, forming the centerpiece of the Three Sisters Wilderness, known for their stunning views and volcanic geology.

Ulrich Pakker is a German-born sculptor based in Seattle, Washington, known for large-scale, curvilinear stainless steel and bronze public art.
