John Fleming loves all things rusty, repurposed or reclaimed. While best known for his highly acclaimed steel sculpture, Grass Blades, in his home base of Seattle, Fleming has incorporated salvaged traffic signs, steel railroad plates, signal crossing lights and waste lumber from construction sites into his art.

Growing up in small towns in northern New Mexico and Arizona, Fleming was influenced by forms he found in the nearby high desert, forests and mountains, which led first to a career in architecture. Fleming’s projects, both art and architecture, are located primarily in the western United States.
