David Govedare’s artistic goal is to capture people’s wonderment using human and animal figures to create symbolic and visual narratives. Govedare enjoys doing historical work that somehow rights an injustice and he finds that the placement of his sculptures often matters as much as the work of art itself.

Govedare’s large scale sculpture of 15 life-size steel horses which appear to be galloping across a ridge above the Columbia River (near Vantage, Washington) was conceived as a memorial to the wild horses that once roamed the region. He is also well known for The Joy of Running Together, a sculpture of forty life-size metal figures posed in the motion of running at Riverfront Park in Spokane.
